Welcome Nikki! Circle of Moms Facilitator and Mom Support Super Hero!
Welcome New Team Member: Nikki Karalekas!
We are so excited to welcome Nikki Karalekas to our Parenting Resources team. She is taking over facilitation of Circle of Moms, and bringing back Circle of Working Moms on Saturdays starting September 9th, and will also be helping up develop more programming for our doulas around Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders.
Nikki and her family have been an integral part of our community here at Parenting Resources and we've loved getting to know her and her family over the past several months. We were so excited to receive her application to start working with us. She is not only an inclusive, compassionate person, she also has a deep understanding of the needs and concerns of new Moms and knows exactly how we roll here at Parenting Resources in welcoming caregivers of all kinds and with all parenting styles.
Nikki is a MSW candidate at the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University. She is studying mental health, with a special interest in perinatal mental health. Currently, Nikki is completing a practicum with Perinatal Behavioral Health Services--a mental health team embedded across OB sites at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. In this role, Nikki works to support new and pregnant moms in their mental and emotional well-being. In the past, she has worked as a hotline volunteer with Postpartum Support International.
Prior to social work school, Nikki earned a doctorate in women's, gender, and sexuality studies from Emory University with a focus in feminist legal and political theory. Nikki's long term goals include maintaining a private psychotherapy practice and writing a book on the history of postpartum depression.
Originally from Boston, she currently lives in the city of St. Louis with her two small children and husband. In her free time, Nikki enjoys listening to podcasts, yoga, lifting weights, cooking, and spending time with her family.
Circle of Moms has now moved to Wednesdays, beginning August 30th and Circle of Working Moms is being added to Saturdays, beginning September 9th!
As always, please check the schedule before coming for last minute cancellations and changed.
