Pretesting Instructions

The class format for NRP has changed. In order to take the skills portion of the class, you must first purchase a book and complete the on line exam. This is the Official NRP requirement. You must then bring the certificate of completion to the provider course at Parenting Resources. You cannot participate in the skills portion without the certificate of completion. So here is what you need to do before your class:

  1. Review the NRP instructions on the website aap.org/NRP
  2. Go to shop.aap.org and purchase the most current NRP book. You may be able to share the book, though it is recommended that you have one for your reference.
  3. Review course materials for Lessons 1-4 & 9 only.
  4. Take the on line NRP exam (Lessons 1-4 & 9) and print certificate of completion.
  5. Bring the certificate of completion to Parenting Resources. Please remember that you cannot take the skills portion of the test without the certificate of completion.

You will receive your NRP card after you have completed the skills portion of NRP. It is good for 2 years, but we recommend that you attend a review course every year to keep your skills current. You do not, however, need to complete the test every year. This is merely our recommendation to stay current and proficient in the skills you have acquired.

If you have resuscitation equipment where you attend deliveries, feel free to bring it with you to class and we can check it and incorporate it into your training. This class is designed to help you provide the best resuscitative care with the equipment available to you. If you think of scenarios you would like to discuss, feel free to email them to us and we can incorporate the scenario into the class.

We look forward to assisting you in providing the very best resuscitative care to your patients & clients!
